Aventon Aventure.2 Step Over Electric Bike

The Aventon Step Through Bike is great, especially for a short (149cm) person. A great looking bike too, very solid. I wish it had indicators, like Hubby’s Aventon bike. Simple to put together (I watched hubby 😅). Highly recommend!

Ordered my Aventure 2 from Electric kicks on a Friday mid morning, received the bike from couriers on the same day - very happy customer. Putting the bike together is simple, 30 mins max. I agonized over the Aventure 2 or the Level 2, as I wasn't sure if the fat tyre look was a bit "Over the top" for a middle aged rider, but the deal on the Aventure 2 from Electric Kicks was very attractive and the Level 2 wasn't in stock and now I've done 300 KM, its actually an amazing looking bike, everyone wants to talk to me about it.

PRO's
1. Fast - Like super fast on top pedal assist and powerful for hills , but also excellent brakes, I've never had brakes this good on a bicycle.
2. Torque sensor is so much better than cadence, just feels like a normal bike except ridden by Tour De France winner.
3. Looks great in the Green step over version.
4. Battery distance is solid, I've done 60 KM rides using assist the whole way with big hills thrown in, no problems
5. Carrying capacity and inclusions of Rack, Lights, Mudgaurds etc, makes this a true all rounder, I commute on weekdays and ride trails on the weekends. It looks like an offroader, but those tyres at about 15 - 20PSI are great for the rubbish roads/ bike tracks in Melbourne. Its not a mountain bike though - know your limitations - lite trails ang Gravel tracks are perfect.
6. I'm only a month into ownership, but research shows they are very reliable
7. Throttle really handy for starting at traffic lights or hills
8. Compared to hybrid or commuting bikes from the top end suppliers, who are asking 4 - 6 grand, your saving a lot. Yes 2 grand is as lot for a bicycle, but 4 - 6 grand is decent second hand motorbike money.

CONS's
1. Everyone wants to ask about it when out riding, not for introverts - you just don't see any out and about - In Melbourne anyway.
2. Hard to ride with no pedal assist. I find the lowest level - ECO is the sweet spot - I still get exercise and can really go fast. Just use Eco mode and your gears as per normal and you forget your on an e-bike
3. You'll always get stuck behind regular riders on bike paths, you get up to 30 KM so fast and with so little effort and forget most regular riders are peaking at 25KM
4. Bike is heavy, not an issue to ride as its well powered, but not sure a regular bike carrier on a car could handle it.
5. Not an issue for me, but technically illegal in some states -with 250w limits - this puts out 3 times that - buyer beware.
6. To go with point 5, due to its power you wont find an insurer to insure it - so trust your bike lock, take the battery out when you leave it parked.

Overall very satisfied customer with Electric Kicks and the Aventure 2. if all goes well will get another possibly the step through version for my wife. If your hesitating in your purchase decision - DONT.

So my bike arrived faster than predicted, Friday instead of the Monday according to tracking, which was great. Unfortunately the screen stopped working after about 1 minute and basic troubleshooting did nothing.
Support was engaged and although a replacement screen was eventually sent, the support via email was longer than it should have been as I clearly explained the fault, and troubleshooting steps I had performed up front. Support was not bad, just could be better.
New screen arrived and was swapped onto bike, which did the trick.
The Bike.
What a great bike. Well balanced, lovely to ride, comfortable seat, nice controls.
The gears are great.
I did get a E25 error on my first ride, which was frustrating, but after some fluffing around (turn off bike, turn back on a few times) it went away and i was able to ride home with power. Aventon have pretty good support pages on their site and I was able to adjust brake sensor sensitivity very easily which fixed the issue.
The front brake is sometimes noisy, but I'll live with that for now as it's probably another easy adjustment I need to make. But the bike itself, great. Levels of pedal assist are fantastic, power provided is smooth, and throttle works brilliantly. You can switch between power assist and throttle at will while riding, which is great for "cheating" when you want a break from pedalling. On steep hills you need to boost power assist and be mindful of gear selection as it did not offer as much assist to my 96kg old body as I thought it would. But that was quite steep. Otherwise, power is plentiful and the bike is a pure joy to ride.
Will be getting the missus a step through one as soon as I have enough coins put aside.
All in all, a very, very nice quality bike I am extremely happy with after the initial frustration of being shipped one with a dud screen.
Would recommend.

The Aventure 2: My Best E-Bike Experience So Far

I've had the chance to ride several e-bikes, including the Pace and Level 2 (both fantastic!), but the Aventure 2 is the best e-bike I've ridden so far. Its combination of style and reliability makes it perfect for commuting, as well as for riding on different surfaces like gravel.

Customer Service Experience
I had a great experience with customer service when I wanted to use an alternative payment method instead of my credit card. Juan Onatef was extremely helpful in resolving the issue, and everything was handled smoothly. I also reached out via the chat feature on the website and received prompt assistance from Alyssa, which was another positive experience.

The Bike
The Aventure 2 is impressive. I've also tried the Pace 300 and Level 2, and this brand continues to prove itself as the best for e-bikes. They're solid, reliable, powerful, and stylish.

For my needs, the Aventure 2 is perfect. It’s comfortable for commuting and performs exceptionally well on non-paved roads thanks to its sturdy build, flat wheels, and powerful motor. I highly recommend it!

If it didn't keep turning the mode to off giving you no assist it would be a great bike. Check where you can get them repaired you might have to travel hundreds of klms to do that. Also check the aventon pages cause getting replacement parts in the USA will take 4-6 weeks so heaven knows how long to get here.Overall due to all these factors i would not recommend or purchase again. Very disappointed. Electric Kicks are great to deal with not their fault just got a Lemon.
