1. Aventon Control Unit (ACU) With 4G Connectivity
The Abound SR features the new Aventon Control Unit (ACU), which boosts security and connectivity with remote locking, GPS tracking, and 4G connectivity.
The cargo e-bike also comes with added security features, including passcode protection, a smart-lock kickstand, and an alarm system for increased theft deterrence. The passcode must be entered to reactivate the bike after it has been powered off and locked, which prevents unauthorised use.
Here are all the new capabilities available with the ACU:
- GPS Location: GPS positioning is performed periodically and the position is updated to the Aventon app.
- 4G cellular communication: The ACU communicates with cloud servers over 4G cellular networks.
- Geofencing: Set boundaries where your ebike is allowed or not allowed to go.
- Report lost: With 4G subscription, the motor assistance can be disabled from the Aventon app, and the bike’s motor will stop functioning.
- Remote shutdown: The Aventon app can remotely control the shutdown of the ACU via Bluetooth or 4G network.
- Alarm and Motion sensor: Now you can remotely detect movement and security verification failure, all from the Aventon app. After the shutdown, the ACU’s built-in accelerometer will continuously monitor for vibrations (such as being moved, falling, etc), and will report it through the 4G connection when detected.
- Status report: With 4G, whether your bike is on or off, the ebike status info like location and battery is directly uploaded to the cloud server when the Aventon app is not connected. Through your Aventon app, you can also receive updates on ebike status and change notification frequency as desired.
- Ride statistics summary: During your ride - mileage, duration, start/end locations are recorded and uploaded to the cloud server via Bluetooth or 4G, even when your Aventon app is not in use.
- Transportation Mode: All functions such as status reporting and vibration monitoring can be turned off. For long-distance transportation, reducing the use of ACU’s 4G, can save battery power.
(Note: These features will be available roughly in March 2025 with a free upgrade for all customers.)
2. Heavy-Duty Performance and Power
The Abound SR may be a utility bike, but it packs power that is comparable to most high-performance bikes. Its 750W motor and 80Nm of torque lets you hit top speeds of up to 32 KPH while tackling hills and carrying heavy loads.
Meanwhile, a 708Wh allows you to cover up to 97 kilometres of range, an upgrade from the Abound’s 80-KM range. Plus, with a total weight capacity of 200 KG (65 KG on the rear rack alone), it’s built to carry everything from groceries to children without compromising on power or mileage.
3. Customisable Ride With Ride Tune
Like other Aventon models, the Abound SR lets you personalize your ride with its Ride Tune feature, which offers easy adjustments to pedal assist and speed via the new handlebar display or the Aventon app. With this feature, you can fine-tune settings like Assistance, Max Torque, and Acceleration for a smoother, more responsive ride.
