A good suspension system is important in absorbing and reducing the impact of bumps, shocks, and vibrations. Here are the most common types of suspension systems on ebikes:

• Front suspension: Front suspension is the most common type of suspension on electric bikes. Also known as a suspension fork, they are positioned on the front wheel and absorb bumps and vibrations from this location. With this system in place, a front suspension ebike efficiently smooths out bumps and vibrations.
• Rear suspension: As its name suggests, rear suspension is integrated into the rear part of the electric bike. Because of its location, this type of suspension specialises in absorbing shocks transmitted through the seat, which makes for more comfortable long-distance rides.
• Full suspension: Finally, a full suspension system combines both front and rear suspension. Also called dual suspension, this system delivers maximum shock absorption, even on the most technical trails.

That said, although a full suspension system seems to be the most ideal, a well-designed front or rear suspension system is more than enough to handle daily commutes, off-road adventures, and everything in between.
